The Crazies

Kris.... The crazies stars Timothy Olyphant as a small town sheriff who has to survive when a virus is accidentally released in the towns water supply turning the people into homicidal killers. Radha Mitchell plays his wife and is the towns doctor.Joe Anderson plays his deputy. Just when you think things cant get worse the government comes in to quarantine the town. I really liked this movie. It was a good story and it started early and kept moving. Olyphant is becoming one of my favorite actors. It was a pretty gory movie which I loved but it wasn't over the top or anything. So I say see this movie.

Steph.... Going in to this movie I didn't think that I would like it but I was pleasently surprised. For a horror flick this was actually quite smart and very entertaining. Go see it if you get a chance.

The Wolfman

Steph - If you like Victorian Goth, blood and guts, and hairy men, this is the movie for you. The Wolfman is an entertaining movie in a campy sort of a way. It stuck to the general story: A man is bitten by a wolfman. Man becomes wolfman when moon is full. Scared towns people run around like morons, i.e, dropping a loaded rifle and run when wolfman comes after you. This is nothing more than a B movie but its fun.

Kris... I liked the wolfman. Not a new story by any means but its a good little B-movie horror monster movie. Benicio Del Toro was all right. Not really sure why but he is not one of my fav actors but he did well here. Anthony Hopkins though was under used here i felt. He is a very good actor. Emily blunt was also good and also looks very good in a corset. On that note can we try and bring the corset back into every day fashion? I love that look on a woman. Anyways i say if you like horror or monster movies go see Wolfman.

Shutter Island

Steph - Yay! A Psychological film! I love those. That being said, this was not Scorsese's best film. It dragged a little at the end, and you can see the ending coming from a mile away. Not to mention it really bothered me that a character was refered to as having Manic-Depression (which is now called Bipolar Disorder) but when their symptoms were described they clearly had Schizophrenia. But overall I liked this movie. The accents were fun (Kris and I love doing our impressions). Plus, I liked looking at an insane asylum circa 1950 and all of the old therapies that were used that would never be used today. Not to mention the defense mechinisms people use to sheild themselves after a trauma. This movie was dark, trippy, and entertaining.

Kris... We are dully appointed federal marshals- said with a thick boston accent. I was digging this movie. You see the twist coming about half way through the movie but that did hurt it at all.Leonardo DiCaprio is the star here and he is strong in this role.in fact the entire cast was very good and i liked the look of the movie. The flash backs were pretty brutal but they needed to be. As steph said this isnt Scorsese's best. But its strong film noir and will have you thinking about it long after you leave the theatre.

Edge of Darkness

Steph - Mel Gibson is back and kicking ass with a very bad accent. The movie was ok but I think that they lost sight of the plot mid-way through and just decided to kill everybody. The best performance of the movie was by Ray Windstone who plays "the guy that stops you from connecting A to B." Through I had a hard time concentrating when he was on because I kept thinking, is he the albino from "The Princess Bride?" He's not (I looked it up). Overall, I'd give it a C

Kris....I liked this movie more than Steph. Mel Gibson goes ape shit and kills everyone. Makes sense to me. What would you do to the people that killed your only child? Anyway ya the accents were pretty bad and the plot kind of fell apart at the end but it was very good to see Mel back again. I really don't care about all the stuff about him off screen. I have been a fan of his movies for a long time. So if you like Mel Gibson or like revenge movies i say see it.
