Beginners

beginners Pictures, Images and Photos

From writer/director Mike Mills comes a comedy/drama about how deeply funny and transformative life can be, even at its most serious moments. -Beginners- imaginatively explores the hilarity, confusion, and surprises of love through the evolving consciousness of Oliver (Golden Globe Award nominee Ewan McGregor). Oliver meets the irreverent and unpredictable Anna (Melanie Laurent of Inglourious Basterds) only months after his father Hal (Academy Award nominee Christopher Plummer) has passed away. This new love floods Oliver with memories of his father who - following 44 years of marriage - came out of the closet at age 75 to live a full, energized, and wonderfully tumultuous gay life. The upheavals of Hal's new honesty, by turns funny and moving, brought father and son closer than they'd ever been able to be. Now Oliver endeavors to love Anna with all the bravery, humor, and hope that his father taught him.

Steph... This movie was smart, funny, introspective, has amazing actors in it, and is one of the best movies I've seen in a long time; so good luck trying to find it playing anywhere near you. Really, I think its just play in Brea and Hollywood. But seriously this movie was so good. Everyone in this movie was great. I truly enjoyed watching it. Definitely worth seeing.

Kris... Amazing movie. Ewan McGregor is so good as always and plummer and laurent are both really good also. Great acting combined with a touching story make this one one of the best this year with out a doubt. You may have to drive farther than normal to find it but you wont be disappointed.

I Spit On Your Grave

I Spit on your grave Pictures, Images and Photos

I Spit on Your Grave is a 2010 American rape and revenge horror film, and a remake of the controversial 1978 cult film of the same name. In the movie, A writer who is brutalized during her cabin retreat seeks revenge on her attackers, who left her for dead.

Steph...Talk about revenge. I like a good horror movie but I just don't need to see a rape scene. I understand why its in the movie. I mean after all it is a "rape revenge" story. Plus, when she goes ape shit on their asses, not only do you understand why, but you support it. But I still don't like watching rape scenes (but then again who does?) Anyways, when the tables are turned it gets brutal. Boy does she ever get her revenge! So if you like a good revenge story and can get through the first part, its worth a watch.

Kris.... Not bad but not great either. The rape scene didnt really bother me as much as the one in "Last house on the left". Actually that movie was all around better than this one. Any way the acting is all right in this one. The revenge deaths were nice and gruesome. Its a rental at best.

Super 8

Super 8 Pictures, Images and Photos

After witnessing a mysterious train crash, a group of friends in the summer of 1979 begin noticing strange happenings going around in their small town, and begin to investigate into the creepy phenomenon.

Steph... This movie was totally mint. I think Kris's brother Matt was right when he said it was missing something, but its still a good movie. It was kind of a nice throw back to the early Spielberg days of E.T. with a little bit of J.J. Abrams mystery. Overall I thought it was cute. Definitely worth watching.

Kris... I liked this one a lot. It felt a lot like E. T. to me. Set in 1979 it brought a lot of good memories of my early child hood. I say check out Super 8.

The Postman

The Postman Pictures, Images and Photos

Post-apocalyptic America. What begins as a con game becomes one man's quest to rebuild civilization by resuming postal service.

Steph... So this isn't exactly a new movie. It came out in 1997 and is not one of Costner's best. I just wasn't feeling it. You really didn't even need the 1st hour of the movie and I thought the editing was terrible. It was a good effort, but no.

Kris... This has always been one of my favs ever since it came out.Other than it being a little long its just such a good story and some good acting. If you've never seen it then go rent it or borrow it from me. LoL

X-Men: First Class

Set in the era before Professor Charles Xavier and Erik Lehnsherr became mortal enemies as Professor X and Magneto, respectively, director Matthew Vaughn's X-Men: First Class follows the two former allies as they lead a powerful team of mutants on a mission to save the planet from nuclear annihilation.

Steph...Wow. A summer movie I don't hate! Lol. I really liked this movie. It was entertaining and fun. Plus, James McAvoy was in it. This is definitely a must see.

Kris.... Good movie. I wont go as far as to say its as good as the first one but its close. The two lead actors make the movie. James Mcavoy and Michael Fassbender are perfect here. Also i will say it one more time, January Jones is a horrible actress.Rose Byrne was really good. Anyway if your a fan of the series or just need a big summer movie go see this one.

Black Death

Black Death 2011 Pictures, Images and Photos

Set during the time of the first outbreak of bubonic plague in England, a young monk is tasked with learning the truth about reports of people being brought back to life in a small village.

Steph... Honestly, I was only half paying attention. This movie moved VERY slow but had some good fight scenes. Sean Bean has really found his niche playing medieval type characters (LOTR, Game of Thrones). This movie was just kind of okay at best.

Kris.. For a small direct to video movie it wasn't bad but not great either. Sean Bean does his best with a script that just wasn't that strong. I liked that it was dark and bloody but it didn't really have a payoff in the end. Only rent this if there isn't anything else to try. check it out on cable when it come out.

The Hangover 2

Hangover 2 Pictures, Images and Photos

In the follow-up to the record-breaking hit comedy “The Hangover,” Phil (Bradley Cooper), Stu (Ed Helms), Alan (Zach Galifianakis) and Doug (Justin Bartha) travel to exotic Thailand for Stu’s wedding. After the unforgettable bachelor party in Las Vegas, Stu is taking no chances and has opted for a safe, subdued pre-wedding brunch. However, things don’t always go as planned. What happens in Vegas may stay in Vegas, but what happens in Bangkok can’t even be imagined.

Steph... Basically the same plot of the first movie but in Thailand. Not nearly as funny as the first one, but still a good effort. Nothing you need to rush out and see (though most people did because this is a week late) but worth a rent.

Kris... I like it more than steph but she is right that it isn't as funny as the first. All the lead actors are strong though and i love seeing there reactions when shit hits the fan. I say go see this one in the theater but keep your expectations at the right level.
