The Square

Steph... A man's simple plan to run off with his mistress after robbing her husband go horribly wrong in this Australian thriller. It starts off kind of slow but it gets better as it goes along. Nothing you need to rush right out and watch but if you come across it give it a chance.

The Room

Steph... This is either the worst movie I have ever seen or the funniest movie I have ever seen. The Room is a cult favorite about a man whose fiancée is cheating on him with his best friend. The main character played by Tommy Wiseau, who is also the writer and director of this movie, is without a doubt the worst actor ever. No seriously, EVER. No one in this movie can act which ironically makes you want to watch it. The horrible acting is hysterical. Everything about this movie is just awful. Its to funny. If you come across this you should definitely watch it only because no words can describe how bad this movie it. This is definitely in the category of being so bad its funny.

I Love You Phillip Morris

Steph... I finally got to see this movie after waiting about 2 years to see it and it was worth the wait. I Love You Phillip Morris is a comedy about two gay men that meet in prison and fall in love. The story centers around Jim Carey's character, Steven, who after a car accident comes out to his family and decides he wants to live a lavish lifestyle, or as he says, "Being gay is expensive." After being caught for numerous fraud charges he is thrown in prison where he meets Phillip Morris. Phillip Morris is a kind gentle man, played by my other boyfriend Ewan McGregor. After they are released from prison Phillip just wants them to live a nice quiet life, but Steven likes money and wants to live well. He keeps committing fraud so they can be rich. But he keeps getting caught and thrown in prison, only to escape again and again. This movie was hysterical! I laughed so hard. This isn't for mainstream audiences. Lots of man kissing, and one scene where Phillip spits cum off the side of a boat after giving Steven a blow job. You don't see anything but if that makes you uncomfortable this movie is not for you. But if you liked Brokeback Mountain you will enjoy this movie. Its like a mix of Brokeback Mountain and Catch Me If You Can. If you can find this movie you should totally go see it.

Blue Valentine

Steph... Wow. This movie was intense. Blue Valentine is the story of a couple whose marriage is falling apart. The movie goes back and forth from the begining of the relationship to where they are now. This movie is very honest and very raw. Michelle Williams and Ryan Gosling are great, at times you forget your watching a movie and feel like your spying on some poor couple. And on a side note, I just got to say that I can't believe this movie almost got an X rating because of 1 sex scene. I've seen way more graphic things in other movies. Showing faked sex acts between actors portraying a married couple in a drama isn't something smutty, which having an X rating usually implies. But anyways, this is a great horribly depressing movie. With my faith in marriage still intact, I say you should definitely go see this one.

Kris... This is an excellent film, but it was extremely hard for me.The acting was very good. Both Williams and Gosling are Oscar worthy. But the real star here is Gosling. He just keeps putting out performance after performance that is so good. I totally say see this one but a warning.if you have had a bad divorce or bad ending to a relationship this one could really hit home. The ending made me physically uncomfortable but it was worth it. Go see Blue Valentine.......

Shallow Grave

Steph... Hardly a new movie, this came out in 1994, and stars Ewan McGregor, Christopher Eccleston, and Kerry Fox. It's good and I don't think a lot of people have seen it so I'm going to review it. Shallow Grave is a British thriller that starts with three friends interviewing people to be their 4th roommate. They are just awful to everyone who comes in until finally they met 1 guy they like. He moves in and soon after dies of an overdose. As they are calling the police they find a suitcase full of money in his room and decide to not call the cops and bury him themselves and keep the money. But where did the money come from? And can friendship last under the stress of keeping this kind of secret. This movie asks the question, "If you can't trust your friends, well what then?"

The Green Hornet

Steph... I had very low expectations for this movie going in. But it wasn't that bad, not great, but not awful. The real star of this movie was Kato who basically does all the work. Seth Rogen's character was a lazy, spoiled, egomaniac. The movie has some good moments, but was a little to long. The only thing I came away with after watching this movie is that now I really want a 1966 Chrysler Imperial. That car was bad ass even without all the gadgets. So I'm not going to say don't see this but there is no need to rush to the theater. Wait for it to come out on Dvd.

Kris... Like Steph i had very low expectations for this one. Honestly i wouldn't have gone to see it, it was paired with Due Date and I really wanted to see that one. But in the end i liked the green hornet. It was funny and the acting was good. Im not saying to rush out to see it but its worth a rental.

Due Date

Steph... Oh my gosh! This was funny. Zach Galifianakis is crazy. And Robert Downey Jr. was solid as always. This movie was about Downey Jr.'s character (Peter) being forced to travel across country with Galifianakis's character (Ethan) after Ethan gets them kicked off a plane and put on the no fly list. Peter has to make it back to LA by the end of the week for the birth of his first child, and of course, shenanigans happen. Not the funniest movie I've ever seen but it won't disappoint. Check it out if you get a chance.

Kris... I was really looking forward to this one. But it wasnt as funny as i had hoped. Having said that it was good and i did laugh through out. Both Downey Jr and Galifianakis were solid and Jamie Fox was good in a small part.if your a fan of comedy and road movies then this one is worth checking out.

The Social Network

Steph... I really liked this movie. It's a little long and I didn't understand any of the technical stuff but it's very entertaining. Jesse Eisenberg was wonderful as Mark Zuckerburg. I really hope he gets an Oscar nomination for this. Definitely check this one out.

Kris.... This a solid movie from start to finish. The most surprising thing is Jesse Eisenberg's performance. He was very powerful and strong here. Another cool thing is David Selby.He played a lawyer suing Eisenberg. But i remember him from the tv show Falcons Crest. I used to watch that with my mom when i was a kid. Its good to see him still around and acting. Anyways this one is a must see and there is no way you will be disappointed with it.

Scenes of A Sexual Nature

Steph... No I didn't start reviewing porn. This is the name of a British comedy about love and relationships. It takes place in a London park over the course of a day and explores the relationships of 7 different couples. There is a couple on a first date, a gay couple deciding whether or not to adopt, a happily divorced couple talking about how they ever got together, an older couple who met by chance and realize they were in love with each other 40 years ago, an awkward married couple, a guy paying for a date, and another guy just trying to find a date. I liked this movie. It's not laugh out loud funny but it's fun to watch. Tom Hardy from Inception was in this and I barely recognized him. also the sherif from The Walking Dead, and Ewan McGregor A.K.A. My other boyfriend (lol) star in this movie.

Exit Through The Gift Shop

Steph... This is an interesting documentary about street art. Watching the artists make their art and distributing all over the world was fun to watch. This film is also about how the film maker lets the art world go to his head. After filming all of these wonderful street artists for many years and seeing them become rich and famous, he believes he can do it to. At the end of the movie, to me it was like the film maker had become one of those Euro-trash people who thinks they know about art, that people like to make fun of. But that aside if you get the chance to watch this then do it.

Joan Rivers: A Piece Of Work

Steph... This was I interesting. Film makers spent a year following Joan Rivers and documenting her life. It's not something to rush right out and see but if it comes on give it a shot.

Kris.... I only caught part of this while Steph was watching it. From what I saw it looked good. I really dont like Joan Rivers but this documentary sheds some light on her and its kind of sad really. Also she really has ruined her face.

Clash Of The Titans

Steph... Eh? It was alright I guess. I don't know. I really prefer the 80's version to this one. The 80's version was super cheesy but that was part of it's charm. This new one just seemed way over done. Too many over the top special effects no heart. It wasn't terrible but I wouldn't rush out and watch it.

Kris.... While this was on Steph and I were talking and doing other stuff rather than paying attention to the movie. That should tell you all you need to know about this one. Also the world nearly ended because Liam Neeson and Ralph Fiennes were on the screen at the same time........ Crazy.

Case 39

Steph... What a dumb horror film. You could see everything coming from a mile away. And in typical bad horror movie fashion no one in this movie had any common sense. My little girl is really a demon and can kill people without being near them but I'll put a lock on my door and that will keep her out. Whatever. Definitely skip this one.

Kris.... This one had a lot of promise but didnt deliver. Bradley Cooper is barely in it and the story runs out of steam half way through it. If there is nothing else on maybe watch it but other than that find something else.

Easy A

Steph... I really liked this movie. It was kind of a throw back to all the 80's teen comedies. There were some problems. I found parts of this movie completely unbelievable. There is no way any high school anywhere would let students wear bostias as clothes. And when did anyone in high school go all crazy because one person was having sex. Sure some people would talk but the whole school wouldn't be all up in your business about it. But forgetting those things it was a pretty cute movie and definitely worth checking out.

Kris.... This one was good but not great. Like steph said there are problems but over all its a solid movie. Emma Stone is the reason to see it. She is a solid actor and smoking hot. Totally not believable as the girl no one wants to date but you get over that quickly. So rent this one and it wont disappoint you.

The Black Swan

Steph... To all those people who told me that this movie was a psychological mind fuck, you weren't kidding. But then again, thats what I liked about it. Natalie Portman was wonderful in this movie. She was able to pull off fragile and demented all at the same time. If you don't know what this movie is about, its about a ballet dancer who gets her big break dancing the Swan Queen in Swan Lake. Due to the pressure of the roll and her over-bearing mother, she kind of loses touch with reality. The whole movie is basically watching her have a psychotic break. You never know what's real and what's imagined. Barbara Hersey was also good as the over-bearing mother. And Mila Kunis really shined in this movie, her character really stood out and I think she got the best lines. All and all this movie is a bit trippy but I really liked it.

Kris... This was a very strong movie. The acting was good. I found the dancing boring but its not really what the story is all about. The much talked about sex scene was good but way to short. If you like indie movies or dramas then you should check this one out.
